Fieldwork: photo series
Photography is probably the simplest method for monitoring visual changes over time. At the garden of the XXI century in Senan, we use photography as a method for repeated, continuous, and cost-effective monitoring of our test plots. Photographs reveal structural changes in vegetation and infrastructure over time and can be analyzed later to provide additional information not captured during the original survey program. Photo monitoring requires standardized guidelines to ensure visual comparability, fixed marketed photo locations, a shooting direction, and standardized image cropping.
