Vegetation Survey: Pla del Mut Dalt
The test plot with a size of 10 x 20 meters of Mut Dalt is located in the upper part of the ridge to the south of the primary valley of Senan. The garden is relatively thin and long, bordered on one side by an access road and on the other by a steep slope. The side of Mult Dalt that borders the edge of the ridge overlooks the valley of Senan. More information on the Garden of Pla del Mut Dalt can be found here.
The test plot is located in the middle of the garden, about 15 meters from the road. The plot is relatively characteristic of Mut Dalt as a whole, with half of the test plot peppered with isolated occurrences of Pinus halepensis and clusters of Quercus ilex, with a ground plane matrix dominated by Chamaephytes typical of La Garrigue, like Quercus coccifera and Rosmarinus officinalis. The other half of the test plot has a more herbaceous ground plane community, with a large percentage of cover by Brachypodium retusum, as well large areas of bare ground, dead and decaying wood, and stumps remaining from the selective thinning of the forest on the site in 2020. Other plants that occur in the test plot include (in order of greatest to least occurrence): Carex humilis, Aphyllanthes monspeliensis, Centaurea aspera, Thymus vulgaris, Leuzea conifera, Helianthemum hirtum, and Bupleurum rigidum.
