Vegetation Survey: Pla del Pouet Dalt

Pla del Pouet Dalt is a very exposed garden at the top of a ridge north of the valley of Senan. Garden is characterized by very poor alkaline soil, the effect of which can be seen in the sparseness and species of its plant community. The high degree of sun and wind exposure has created a challenging environment for plants, particularly during the summer drought. More information on the Garden can be found here.

The test plot is characteristic of the garden, which is dominated by two Chamaephytes: Genista Scorpius and Dorycnium pentaphyllum. Other plants that typical of the Garrigue shrub community are also present, including Rosmarinus officinalis, Quercus coccifera, and Juniperus oxycedris. These woody plants exist within a matrix of other herbaceous Hemicryptophytes that is largely populated by Brachypodium spp.
